A Vision of Grace

To provide educational excellence for each covenant child to achieve their learning potential, grow in spiritual discernment, and glorify God in their lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.

A little history lesson

Where we come from

Grace Christian School traces its roots to 1954, when parents from the Canadian Reformed Church of Burlington formed a school society with the conviction that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

After years of preparation, John Calvin Christian School opened in 1962 and experienced steady growth, leading to multiple expansions and the eventual establishment of a second campus, Covenant Christian School, in Flamborough. Over time, both school societies recognized the benefit of reuniting, and in 2014 they voted to amalgamate, officially becoming Grace Christian School on July 1, 2015. Throughout this growth and change, the school’s mission has remained constant, firmly grounded in the Word of God.

What we teach

A Biblical Curriculum

Reformed Christianity

At Grace, all that we believe and teach is grounded in the infallible Word of God as confessed in the Three Forms of Unity, namely the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort. Our curriculum is centered on the Bible and designed to help students achieve academic excellence while fulfilling Ontario government standards. We seek to lead students to know the Triune God, His creation, grace, and redemption as revealed in Scripture, which we recognize as authoritative and normative for all of life.

The whole student

As a Reformed Christian school, we are committed to shaping the whole child spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically within a community where every student is known, supported, and loved. We equip students with a distinctly biblical worldview, nurture spiritual discernment rooted in God’s Word, and prepare students for faithful stewardship in fulfilling the cultural mandate.

A Christian Culture

Our desire is to form disciples of Jesus Christ who recognize and develop their God-given gifts, pursue excellence with humility and perseverance, love God and others, and live lives marked by Christlike character. In partnership with families, we seek to cultivate healthy rhythms of learning, prayer, rest, and service that equip students to faithfully follow Christ in every area of life.

School Highlights

There are many wonderful opportunities at Grace to develop talents and have meaningful experiences. Here are a few things to note.

Specialist teachers

Our specialist teachers bring focused expertise and experience to the classroom, giving students opportunities to learn things like band, choir, art and French from educators who are passionate about their areas of specialization.

Resource Room Team

Our Special Education Resource Team provides academic support and enrichment opportunities to help students thrive, while also helping families navigate the requirements of available government funding.

Sports

Our sports program gives students opportunities to stay active, develop athletic skills, build teamwork, and experience healthy competition through basketball, hockey, volleyball, baseball, and track and field.

Clubs

Volunteer-led clubs give students opportunities to explore interests and develop new skills outside the classroom, with past offerings including Robotics, Drama, Woodworking, Crafts, and Hiking.

Special Events

Our Easter and Christmas assemblies and concerts give students meaningful opportunities to celebrate together, share their gifts, and participate in the life of our school community.

Competitions

Inter-school speech competitions, science fairs, chess tournaments, and story contests encourage students to challenge themselves, develop their skills, and confidently share their abilities with others.

Fine Arts

Our Fine Arts Events and Drama productions, each offered every three years, give students opportunities to develop creativity, confidence, collaboration, and an appreciation for the arts.

Field Trips

Field trips extend learning beyond the classroom through trips to places like the Ontario Science Centre, Crawford Village, local farms, and more. There are also year-end trips and a special multi-day Grade 8 trip to Ottawa.

Tuition Costs

At GCS, we are committed to keeping tuition affordable, reflecting the shared responsibility of our school community for Christian education.

Approximately 30% of the cost of education is supported by the community, with tuition calculated per family rather than per student. We also offer a JK/SK program and a pre-tuition program that helps families spread the cost of education over a longer period. To support the long-term sustainability of the school, families enrolling a child in Grade 1 are required to have contributed a minimum amount equivalent to one full year’s tuition through the pre-tuition program, with reduced requirements for students entering in later grades. Yearly payments begin in July.

Pre-tuition

Our Pre-Tuition Program helps spread the cost of your child’s education over more years. Families whose children do not attend our JK/SK program contribute 50% of the regular tuition fee for the two years prior to Grade 1 enrollment.

$632.50

Jr. & Sr. Kindergarten

The family’s eldest child is enrolled in JK/SK. The schedule is alternating 2 days and 3 days a week. The cost is 75% of regular tuition. This fee includes pre-tuition payments.

$948.75

Monthly Tuition

Tuition is based on the family as a whole, not the number of children enrolled.
